Emiliano Zapata was the embodiment of the Mexican people's struggle for land, liberty and justice. As a champion of the rural poor, his revolutionary movement sought to uproot the systemic inequalities that had dispossessed peasants and indigenous communities of their lands and rights for centuries. Zapata's core values centered on reclaiming Mexico's agricultural lands from the hacienda estates and redistributing them to the villages - a radical vision encapsulated in his famous call for "Tierra y Libertad" (Land and Liberty).
